The Missional College is so excited to announce that Dorcas Dennis has joined the Anthropology & Geography Department as Professor of Folk Studies! Her areas of expertise include the social scientific study of religion and practical theology with a specialty in world religions. Dorcas has an extensive background in African and African Diaspora folk religions, history, and cultures and is particularly interested in the roles of indigenous African and Afro-Caribbean religious and cultural agents. She has also taught new religious movements and world religions such as Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism and Buddhism. Dorcas holds a PhD in Religious Studies from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. She has had the opportunity to travel for missions to Accra and Takoradi in Ghana, Fiji, Australia, and within New Zealand. Dorcas currently serves as an evangelist and lives in Wellington, New Zealand.
